Day 8\9 cont...

Yesterday, we decided to get up early and take a walking tour of Berlin. So we woke up at 2:30 or so and grabbed a quick bite to eat. We headed to the pickup and waited a few minutes. Ofcourse it was cold as shit and very windy on top of that. Apparently it has been really nice in Berlin until we got there. Oops..So we took the tour which was badass. It was through the same company we took the tour in Amsterdam with, neweurope.eu. Our guide was from England but he knew his stuff. We saw a bunch of stuff and took lots of pictures (good news cathy, we have over 100!] After the tour, we went back to the hostel and hung out for awhile. Around 9 we headed out to see the Reichstag and the big ass gate (forget the name] all lit up. We got some sweet pics of the gate then headed to the Reichstag, which is the parliament. There is a huge dome on top of that you can walk around and look down into the building. The dome closes at 10 and we showed up at 10:01 but luckily we got in the last tour. It was really cool. We decided to take it easy after doing two pub crawls in the last two nights. We came home, chilled in the lobby for awhile, then went to the room, read, and passed out.

Woke up this morning and checked out, left our finnish friend Joona who we've been travelling with the past few days, and headed to the train station. We grabbed some McDonalds and hopped on the train. We thought we were gonna have to buy a ticket once we left Dresden and headed to the Czech Rep because its not covered in our Eurail pass. But in typical American style we stuck it to the man and managed to get off for free. We rode first class with all of the old german businessmen too good for coach haha. It was funny to see us 3 scrubs reeking of B.O. mixed in with the "professional" crowd. But the Czech conductor came by to check our ticket and we showed it to him, expecting to have to pay. Luckily he couldn't read or something and he just said OK and kept walking. We got off the train station and began our search for a hostel. We walked around for awhile until I walked into a Ramada and asked for the directions to a hostel. He pointed us towards this one unfortunately haha. Its pretty sketchy and not nearly as nice as the last 2 but oh well it will do. We're only staying 2 nights so I guess we'll just have to drink a few biers so we won't mind the sketchiness haha. We just got back from some pizzeria and ate alfredo and a drink for 146Kc or around 5€, which is really cheap. But I think we're gonna go to this club up the street and see whats going on there. But I've been working on a "Random Thoughts" post that I will put on here tomorrow probably.

Pops, nice article and thanks for the shoutout. Cathy, unfortunately Peter is still in customs at the airport in Amsterdam so thats why he hasn't commented. Maddie, how the hell did you bust your toes that bad? Teresa, still waiting on those other addresses, the stuff in Berlin looked fake so we didn't even bother buying anything. Everyone else, I'll throw you in the Random post...peace

P.S...If you could't tell, I finally decided to make a sober post since everyone seems to be reading. I'm sure it won't last long though, and expect more 'colorful' posts later :-].

Pictures...YEAH...!! Hope you save enough euros to get Peter out of customs. Cathy will not be happy if he doesn't return...beard or not! Good thing that you took a night off...replinish some of those brain cells!! Glad to hear the trip is going well. Wish the weather was a little better, but that is typical. Your buddies are all lonely and wishing they had gone with you. Nothing new in K-vegas, but would you expect anything else? Love you guys and be safe...

Hey guys....Skippy here. Just wanted to say hello. I envy you and hope that we can sit down when you get back so I can hear all the stories and see all the pics. My Dad was stationed over in Germany while in the Army. One thing he told me that I will always remember was some advice he gave me regarding German beer bottles. He said if I was ever in a bar fight in Germany I should watch out for German beer bottles. At that time they made German beer bottles thicker than American beer bottles and during a bar room brawl he found out how thick they were when he was hit over the head with one. Stay safe and watch out for flying beer bottles!

Later guys !!
